Kickstart Children & Family Assistant

Job Description:

The Children and Families Assistant role is a new post to assist with the charity’s work to engage with young D/deaf or hard of hearing people, including CODAs, and their families to build their stability, confidence and wellbeing, and ultimately engage in wider society with or without support from peers.  There will be a lot of interaction with people the majority of whom will be D/deaf or hard of hearing, hence excellent interpersonal skills are required.  In addition, a good grasp of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, organisational and presentation skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure are also important.  The trainee will join a highly dedicated team striving to always maintain our excellent reputation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To maintain regular contact with young D/deaf or hard of hearing people and their families
  2. To support with organising activities and events to promote peer support
  3. To  work with our Communication Lead to promote the project via our social media platforms
  4. To work closely with other staff in particular the Wellbeing Assistant  to ensure a joined up approach
  5. To support the Play Leader for our Dalmatians club for deaf children as required

Essential skills, experience & qualifications

  • Excellent organisational and multitasking ability with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Outstanding communication and teamworking skills
  • Strong attention to detail on organisation and record keeping
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Hours per Week – 25

Monday to Friday – 5 hours per day

Hourly rate of pay – minimum national average
