A Deaf-led Charity, Action Deafness, one of the UK’s leading providers of services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing people, is delighted to announce its appointment to the East Sussex County Council (ESCC)’s Translation & Interpreting Framework Agreement.
Action Deafness has been providing interpreting services in Sussex since 2013 and is delighted to have the opportunity to continue working in this area.

The agreement framework puts Action Deafness and Video Relay Service partner, SignVideo, in a positive position to provide face-to-face and remote services on behalf of ESCC.

This appointment will enable Action Deafness and SignVideo to add value to the patient experience at GP appointments, outpatient appointments and even when patients are staying in hospital. The excellent interpreting provision will ensure that, at all times, front line staff are able to provide safe and professional care to Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients in the patient’s communication mode of choice.

Action Deafness worked with a group of experienced face to face and VRS partners and language service professionals to successfully enter this framework agreement.

Craig Crowley, CEO of Action Deafness, said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement for Action Deafness and partners. We are looking forward to working across ESCC framework areas to secure service contracts that will see us providing quality sign language interpreting through which Deaf, Hard of Hearing, deafened and Deafblind people will be able to make informed choices about their healthcare.’
