Action Deafness is currently looking for Generation Communication Officers to work on a new project – Generation Communication.
We are looking for people aged 18-32 who are eager to build their skills and work experience. You must be Deaf Aware (can be HOH or BSL).
This project has been funded by the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, made possible by the Government.
The project intends to train young Deaf people to become Trainers who can participate in workshops in the community and care home venues teaching older Deaf people how to use a range of connected devices.
Full training will be given which will include –
- Technical Equipment Competence.
- Troubleshooting (devices and networking).
- Teaching/Learning methodologies
(age specific methodologies for the client group). - Safeguarding (considering that some individuals may be vulnerable).
The initial training will take place in 4 locations – Derby, Oxford, Walsall and Worcester / Hereford. This will be followed by seminar sessions which will then be taught remotely.
Training will not be paid (up to 6 hours) however sessions delivered will be paid. All equipment will be provided.
