RNID have announced today of some important changes to the communication services they provide, that will take place from 31 March 2023. It affects people who contact RNID to book communication support, including BSL interpreters, speech to text reporters, lipspeakers, deafblind interpreters, sign language translators or electronic/manual notetakers.
Over the last few months, RNID have been reviewing what services they should provide themselves, and what services other organisations are better placed to provide.
After serious consideration, RNID have taken the difficult decision to close their Communication Services department on 31 March 2023.
RNID have decided that they are no longer the best organisation to directly deliver communication support. This means that from the end of March 2023, you will no longer be able to book BSL interpreters, speech to text reporters, lipspeakers, deafblind interpreters, sign language translators or electronic/manual notetakers.
Following the announcement from the RNID, Action Deafness (AD) would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the partnership in communication services within the Deaf community.
As RNID’s recommended provider, AD would be pleased to discuss your requirements going forward and how we can help before or after the 31st of March 2023. AD offer like for like interpreting services, which means you’re in safe hands.
AD is a Deaf-led charity within the UK and deliver high quality, specialist services to the Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing community.
