Public Announcement – Action Deafness and deafPLUS Announce Formal Merger Completion
Action Deafness and deafPLUS Announce Formal Merger Completion
Action Deafness and deafPLUS are pleased to announce that their merger is effective as of 16 April 2026.
This important step brings together two respected Deaf-led organisations with a shared commitment to empowering Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing people across the UK.
Under the merger:
• Action Deafness will retain its name, governance structure, and CEO leadership.
• deafPLUS will continue with their recognised services within Action Deafness such as moneyPLUS, advicePLUS, energyPLUS and wellbeingPLUS.
• deafPLUS CEO Reg Cobb will transition into the role of deafPLUS Executive within the Action Deafness infrastructure.
• The deafPLUS governing board will remain as a dormant charity for a short transitional period before becoming an advisory group.
This structure ensures continuity, stability, and a strong foundation for future growth while preserving the legacy and identity of deafPLUS.
By combining expertise, networks, and resources, the merged organisation will strengthen service delivery, expand reach, and enhance long-term sustainability.
Craig Crowley, CEO of Action Deafness, said: “This merger represents a significant milestone in strengthening Deaf-led services. By bringing deafPLUS into Action Deafness, we are building a stronger, more sustainable organisation that can expand its reach and impact while staying true to our shared values.”
Reg Cobb, deafPLUS Executive, said: “We are proud of the legacy and positive impact of deafPLUS. Joining Action Deafness allows us to protect that legacy while creating new, exciting opportunities for growth and collaboration. I look forward to continuing this journey as part of the Action Deafness Executive Leadership Team.”
Further updates will be shared with staff, service users and stakeholders/partners as we move forward.
