Forensic Support

Specialised support for people transitioning back into the community

At Action Deafness, our Forensic Support team provides expert guidance for Deaf, Deafblind, Hard of Hearing, and people with sight loss who require specialised assistance, particularly when moving from education and/or health-based care back into the community. We're dedicated to helping people achieve greater independence and stability in their daily lives. We offer a free assessment of needs upon referral.

Tom's Story

Young, Deaf Tom with learning disability and a troubled past (incarceration, drug misuse) had limited communication and support. Action Deafness' specialist 1:1 communication support during rehabilitation empowered him, leading to Deaf club participation, purpose, reduced reoffending, and improved wellbeing/independence.

Carla's Story

Action Deafness supported Deafblind Carla (40s, Autism) in her transition to independent living (due to reduced parental support) by partnering with housing for an adapted apartment and providing Communicator Guide Support. This improved her daily living and wellbeing through community and relationships.
